Anyone that really listens to the old and new breed of musician has to know that Art Blakey is the BOSS, period! Elvin Jones? Wow Art Taylor? heavenly. Roy Haines? None better. Joe Dukes? Who? Check out past things by Jack McDuff. Joe Dukes was no nonsense, monstrously great with drum solos. Back to the point: Blakey is the greatest. I needed something for my soul. Pulled out, “Free For All” which can really shake your soul. Don’t let it be forgotten Art Blakey was and is the god father. Miles Davis even loved him. Too bad Art had Clifford Brown. He was Miles’ nemesis. BLAKEY, BLAKEY!! May the memories be long for Abdul Ibn Buhaina, Mrs. Blakey’s only son. I wish I could have had the fun that Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter and Jackie McLean, and Curtis Fuller must have had one helluva time with the Man.
LONG LIVE THE SOUND OF Blakey!!!!!!!!!!
